Hey parents. Our trip home is going grea
Hey parents. Our trip home is going great. We have changed the arrival time to around 8-830 am friday. We will have students call when we are about an hour away from the church. See you soon.
Almost gone....
Hey parents...we will be leaving the conference center shortly. We were slightly delayed in leaving. Someone ran into one of the busses with their car. NO damage to anyone...and very minor cosmetic damage. This should not delay our arrival in Warsaw. See you soon.
Time to come home
Well, it's that time of the week. It's time to pack up and come home. Actually as we sit here right now everything is packed on the buses and we are waiting to have lunch. For those of you that don't know - as a personal favor to you- we don't leave until 2 pm so that we get in around 7 am . If we were to leave right after the final seesion of the week we would probably get in around 2 am.
God has been doing some pretty amazing things this week in the lives of your students. We have seen people take a hard look at relationships with friends. We have seen some call home to ask their parents forgiveness for attitudes. We have had some decide that it wasn't enough to just believe in God and they have taken the next step to say that they want to be a Christ follower. There is a big difference between the two.
As we get ready to leave there are many struggling with the fact that they have to leave the environment that they have been in for the past week. Not just the beach - the intimacy with God. They know that there are relationships that need to be fixed or changed. They know that there are life choices that need to be made about who they will hang out with and what they will do. They know that they need to honor their parents.
Parents, you have a great opportunity as your kids come home. Ask them questions. Find out how they are feeling. Your kids want a relationship with you even if you don't think they do.
We look forward to seeing you all in about 20 hours.
Impressive
I can't believe that it is already Wednesday. I just want to start off by saying that I think the students we have on this trip are Impressive. I have seen some great attitudes and great community within the group. One of the six volleyball teams that we had one the championship yesterday. One of the basketball teams was about to play for the championship, but then forfeited so that they could play volleyball (they were ont he winning team). Last night, I got the chance to be in the middle of the pack of students from WCC during worship. I have to tell you, I just stopped and was silent while they were singing for a while. The passion in their voices was amazing. What a great time of worship it was for me. I can't wait to spend time with your students once we are back in Warsaw.
There is now just a little over day left and students are already looking at what things are going to be lilke when they get back home. Some have relationships that need to change and some just have "stuff" that they want to work on. I want to encourage you, Parents, to ask questions about their week. Find out what was the most exciting thing about their week. Find out what they learned. They want you to ask. They want you to be involved, even though you aren't so sure.
It's Tuesday
Good morning. What a great day we had yesterday. We started the day out talking about being in Rhythm with ourselves. Students were challenged to look at themselves and examine their personal view of themselves. If they are not comfortable with themselves they can't have a true relationship with God. If God loves us wed don't love ourselves then we are not in Rhythm with God.
Last night students were challenged to examine the relationships that they have with other people. Students were asked if they were climbing a ladder to put themselves higher than other people in their lives. They were challenged to make thsoe relationships right. There was a lot of conversation last night about what that looked like and how to proceed.
Alex Shoemaker-Furnivall made it back last night. We can't wait to hear how her trip to Kenya went. We will let you know what happens today.
Day Two
Day two is rolling and things are awesome. Our session this morning continued the theme of getting in step with the "
Rhythm" of God, and how we view ourselves in light of that
rhythm. This theme is hitting every one of our students and adults right where we need it.
I am very proud of your students. Everywhere we go they are setting a great example for others. As nearly 10% of the camp, they are influencing(positively) this entire place. You would be proud of them if you were watching them as well.
Please keep praying for open hearts and minds, for safety and for God to work in the lives of all of us here.
First Night
Alright, This is the final post for the day. We had our first session for the week and it was great. The theme for the week is "Rhythm". Students are being challenged to look at the rhythm that God created. At Creation, everything was in rhythm. Everything worked together in harmony. Because of some choices that were made, that rhythm was lost and we need to look at what it takes to put ourselves in rhythm with God and His plan for us. Some good things were said tonight to challenge the students. This will be a great week and I can't wait to see how students adopt what they are hearing in Florida to life back in Indiana. Have a great night. We are all looking forward to some sleep.
We're here!!!!!
The students ore out on the beach and the leaders are sitting in a meeting, but we are here. The trip was great and everyone is very excited to be here on time. We will be checking into our rooms in the next hour or so. We will try to keep you updated as things go along. Make sure to let other parents know about the blog and feel free to post yourself. We will try to pass along some info.

On the Curb
Hey Parents, We have so much to tell you about the trip already. We are sitting on the curb in Montgomery, AL right now and it is 8 am (central time). For those of you that are unsure if that is a good thing or a bad thing - that is incdredible. The buses are awesome and the drivers are even better (they wear ties all the time). We have had absolutely no issues (except trying to get comfortable to sleep). God loves us because we found a McDonald's with a close Starbucks. We are only about 180 miles from Panama City Beach right now, so we should be there in a few hours. We will let you know more about what is going on when we get in. Have a great morning.
